Korean Name: Im Dae Jyun
Japanese Name: Iwamoto Soshi [岩本 阻止]
Origin: Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea)
Gender: Male
Orientation: Bisexual
Religion: He used to be Catholic, but after all his misfortunes, he turned Agnostic-ish (like... He knows there is a god, and he knows who the god is... he just doesn't care to believe in him anymore.)
Birthday: September 9
Age: 16
Languages spoken: North Korean, English, Japanese, South Korean, Mandarin
Personality: North Korea is a sullen, melancholic young boy who mostly keeps to himself most of the time, wanting to be alone rather than interacting with other people. Though in the past he used to be happy and carefree, his harsh past and present situation has caused him to grow up into what he is. Unlike his hyper, outgoing, loud younger twin, he is someone who just stays in the background glaring at everyone, cursing at them to himself, but when he is spoken to his voice is loud and his speech riddled with curses. He especially hates America and Russia, and view them as the people who crushed his beloved country. He vows that one day he will eventually take over the whole Korean Peninsula with his nuclear weapons. He believes that it is his government of dictatorship that should be implemented, and that his culture and language (which is nearer to the Chosun Dynasty's) is the correct one, and not Yong Soo's. Also, the reason why he has the nukes is because he is paranoid, believing that his country will fall without it, and that everyone is out to get him... except China. In reality, he had a better economy than Yong Soo after the war/liberation/division since he had all the equipment and military knowledges... but due to his boss' careless way of running everything... (And while this is all that he claims to be, when one gets to know him... one would know that this is all for show.) However, when one gets past all of this, one would see that he also has a kind, caring side that he only shows to certain people, most notably the Asians.
He is also very cautious about everything, and will willingly turn a back on a friend if he knew that he will be disadvantageous to his advance. He will not hesitate to shoot or hurt anyone, be it an old friend or a long-time acquaintance, if they have proved to be a hindrance in his plans/ orders from his boss. Though he does not like his boss very much, he is still loyal to him, and will do everything that he is asked to do (Quite unwillingly, so-- once again, all of this is for show, and one will be quick to find out about it if they are observant). He can be very loyal and devoted, and will stop at nothing to make sure everyone he cares about will not get hurt... even though it is technically them who are keeping him sane. It also takes a lot to make him trust someone, mostly because of his rough history and everything he's gone through. He is also very, VERY blunt, saying outright anything that he thinks, not caring about the recipient's feelings.
Quite recently, he's entered into a secret relationship with Danny, America's son. He's been very good friends with him, and together, they vowed to overthrow his leader from his high throne once and for all, slowly and quietly. His plan is to make him crawl in mud without knowing what hit him, then after he does overthrow him, get rid of all the nuclear weapons that has brought his country misery and open it up to the whole world.
However, never get on his extreme bad side... Because if you enter into a room with him, you may never come back out. You'll be erased, vaporized, eliminated... Classic communist/dictatorship style.
Appearance: He is almost always seen in amilitary uniform, impeccably ironed out and not a crease out of place. He stands at 173 cm or 5'7", about the same height as his brother, although he always has a rigid, straight posture that is military-like. He has brown hair and brown eyes, with his face always either in a frown or an angry look. He also wears his long hair in braids or in a neat ponytail, and is very formal when it comes to his looks. He also always keeps two pistols, a set of knives, and some other weapons on his person at all times, because he is always paranoid of an attack. On times when he has to be in a disguise to go visit Danny, he wears normal Korean fashion: skinny jeans, and some sort of girly top.
Relationships:
- Japan: The love of his life, once an enemy and a most-hated nation, now a most-loved one that he would want to spend the rest of his life with. They are engaged, and he longs for the day when he can formally marry him. Once the fucker's off his high throne, of course.
- China: About one of the few persons who can talk to him properly. He is very grateful for his support, even until now, and is happy that he is still taking care of him and defending him.
- Russia: Though he hates this man, he doesn't hate him as much as he hates America. Yes, he was instrumental in the separation of him and his brother, but he had also taken care of him during the tough times, so he is at least a little grateful. He hates how he had brainwashed him, though, and hates the fact that everything he put in his mind has caused him to go down the wrong path.
- America: Hatred. Pure hatred. That's all he feels for this man. When he first rescued him and his brother, he viewed him as the messiah, a god-send straight from heaven due to his liberation. However, he couldn't keep his nose out of Korean affairs for long, and thus, had to involve himself in the whole Korean peninsula conflict. He believes that if he had left him and his brother alone, then they would still be together. He especially hates how he just packed up and left after he had done considerable damage, and doesn't even try to fix it. That, coupled with many, many other issues. Just... don't put them together in the same room.
- South Korea: Though he appears to hate his brother and cannot stand to be around him, in reality, it's all just for show. He does love his brother very much, always has, always will, and can't wait for the day they will be reunited again.
- Hiroshima: One of his best friends
and future brother-in-law. He trusts this Asian with his life, despite him being Japanese. But then again, he had long forgiven the Japanese. Either way, he is one of the very few people who he actually trusts fully, as he knows that he would never betray him. Neither would he. - Washington, DC: His other best friend. Unlike his father, North Korea is confident that he will never abandon him, and trusts that he will fight with him until the end. For that, he owes him his life and his everything, considering everything that he has already done and is still doing.
History:
This history section is going to be divided into two sections, Korean history and North Korean history. Since South and North Korea share the same history up until their separation in 1945, it is liable that this section would mostly be the same for both countries. Since this is not the focus of the history for my particular character, I'm only going to include the key kingdoms and important events, and not actually elaborate on them.
Korea
- Ca. 700,000 BC: First settlers in the land, Korea is known as one of the oldest civilizations in the world.
- 2333 BC: Gojoseon Kingdom: Saw the Bronze Age for Korea, and other primitive advancements characteristic of ancient civilizations.
- 108 BC: Fall of Gojoseon. Rise of Proto-Three Kingdoms. Korea divided into numerous states.
- 37 BC: Start of the Three Kingdoms, First Kingdom Goguryeo founded.
- 57 BC: Silla, Second Kingdom, founded.
- 18 BC: Baekje, Third Kingdom, founded.
- 918-1392 AD: Goryeo Dynasty. Where the name "Korea" was taken from.
- 1392-1910 AD: Joseon Dynasty, though the Kingdom was renamed Korean Empire in 1897.
- 1910-1945: Japanese annexation of Korea. The Japanese was mostly influential on the South. Russia was mostly influential on the North.
- 15 August 1945: Korean liberation from Japanese rule.
---End of Unified Korean History---
North Korea
Kim Il-Sung
Though he had spent 26 years in exile before the establishment of North Korea, he was then returned to the country by the Soviets on 22 August 1945. He was put as head of the Provisional People's Committee. This was not yet the Communist Party as that was in Seoul.
Throughout the years of building his personality cult, and aligning with the Soviets' communist ideologies (though later diverging and creating a new ideology- "juche", or self-reliance), he became the Prime Minster and Eternal Ruler of North Korea. Through this, he was able to successfully implement a truly dictatorial, closed-off country, which has then lasted until modern times.
- 1948: North Korea, through the orders of Kim Il-Sung, refuses to participate in the all-Korean elections held by the UN.
- 9 September 1948: The official formation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea as a separate country, with Kim Il-Sung as the Prime Minister.
- 12 October 1948: Kim Il-Sung's rule declared by the Soviets as "the only lawful government"
- 1949: "Full-fledged Communist dictatorship"
- 25 June 1950-27 July 1953: The Korean War. Technically still ongoing, as an armistice was never signed.
- The following years: Economic decline, especially in the 90s.
- 8 July 1994: Kim Il-Sung's death
Kim Jong-Il
The son and successor of Kim Il-Sung, he did much to preserve what his father had done and established, if not doing more than he did. He had made sure that all the personality cult that his father set up for himself is still done and practiced, and in addition, he too had set up a personality cult for himself. There is nothing quite notable about him, except that he had done and implemented almost the same things that his father did. South and North Korea had a brief good relationship under the rule of the South Korean president Kim Dae Jung, but when he was replaced (and later died), the relationship of the two Koreas is pretty much returned to the same state-- full of tension.
Current Situation
Tensions have once again mounted between the two Koreas when the North was accused of having sunk a ship on 26 March 2010, which was never proven. The conflict increased even more when the North Koreans attacked Yeonpyong Island and bombed it, killing two South Korean soldiers and eighteen civilians. Overall, the situation is not good, and does not show any sign of being mended soon. Or reunification, for that matter.
As for North Korea's relation with the whole world, it also faces tension due to their nuclear bomb activities. Especially with the United States, who constantly pressures North Korea to get rid of their nuclear plans, but even though they have said over and over again that they will, they refuse to.

- Scowling at people
- Practicing how to ask Japan out on a date in front of a mirror (SSHH)
- Watching his brother's dramas in secret
- Playing the violin (though only when it's required of him, as he is not allowed to play anything that is not hailing his boss; when he gets the chance, though, and he's alone, he does play some classical music, but most of the time he plays the songs that he himself composed.)
- He would like reading to be his hobby, if he had access to books that are actually for entertainment, not propaganda.
Random Quirks:
- Interestingly enough, even though North Korea hates other countries being involved in his internal problems, he is more than happy to receive aid from them, either financially or just aid in general... Though he will NEVER admit this.
- He speaks in a sort of an old Korean (Chosun Dynasty Korean), the Korean with lots of Chinese characters, words, and intonations on it, and thus when he speaks/writes in his Korean, Yong Soo can't understand it... but he can understand Yong Soo's.
- At times he could also get very brotherly, act very shy, and be quite soft-spoken, though this side of his is only shown to people he would trust/care for.
- Weirdly, he has a sense of chivalry as he always helps those who he knows are weaker than him and is polite to girls who are like Taiwan, though will not hesitate to cuss in front of them as he has no manners in that department. But, he is still very polite and helpful when it comes to those who are or appear to be weaker than him.
- Has a very bad sense of direction. Like, really bad that he can't even remember his own backyard.
- And, interestingly, even though he's very, very observant and alert, he can get very airheaded in times. ESPECIALLY WHEN HE'S FLUSTERED.
- Can be clumsy and easily flustered.
- Is overprotective of everyone he loves, tending to get overzealous about hurting those who have burdened those he cares about in any way.
- Will take any chance, no matter how small or hopeless it is, if he knows it will make things just a little bit better.
- However, even though he claims to hate his brother, he still loves him and has a soft spot for him in his heart. He always has, always will. South Korea IS his brother, after all.
- Always has a stack of maps with him in every language possible in case he gets lost.
- Modest, will NOT look at a woman with lust no matter what
- Gets emotional when watching his brother's dramas. SSSHH THAT'S A SECRET.
- Tends to make unintentional innuendos all the time, as he is very dense.
- Can't handle alcohol.
- Has a girly, slightly curvy, leaner body compared to his brother. And he wears his military uniform to mask that. B|
- Doesn't like showing off his skin, and there's a reason for this.
- Is good with kids, apparently.
- Has a HUGE sweet tooth.
- Knows how to play the violin.
- Due to his 'sheltered' government, he is not very aware of things that are happening to other countries aside from the things he hears at UN meetings, neither is he very aware of their history, cultures, and all that fun stuff. In fact, he would most probably have never heard of something, even if it's really famous (for example, with books and famous authors, he would most probably have not heard of most of them; and if he did hear of them, he most probably hasn't read any of them).
- Has a low voice when he talks, but is a high tenor when he sings.
- Can hide weapons on his person VERY well.
- HUGELY scared of the Latina boobs. Seriously.
- Apparently screams like a girl when asked to play scary video games or watch playthroughs/ reaction videos on them.
