Personality: Wang Yao is apparently one of the oldest nations in Hetalia. Having been around for 4000 years, this guy has certainly experienced a lot. Thus, he considers himself the Asian nations' big brother, and is often depicted as taking care of them ever since they were little, most notably Japan and South Korea. However, as much as he considers himself to be one, the other Asian nations rarely respect him and treat him as such. Thus, he longs to be respected and treated as an older brother someday.

He is also very superstitious and religious, to the point where he always thinks red is a lucky color. He also loves food and cuisine in general, and will get mad if something doesn't taste quite right. As weird as it is, he also loves pandas, Hello Kitty, and cute things in general. He even has a companion named Shinatty-chan, which is an old man in a fake Hello Kitty costume. He also has a verbal tick of "aru" or "aru yo", which often riddles the end of his sentences. However, when talking to England, it ends with "ahen" instead, meaning "opium".

He's a very cheerful and optimistic person overall, though he gets annoyed easily and snaps, especially at South Korea. However, he can lapse into a state of melancholy whenever he contemplates about how the world has changed so much. After all, he HAS been around for a long time, and this guy knows what the ancient world was like. Better times. History can be so cruel, aru.

Appearance: Wang Yao has dark brown hair that is always tied back in a neat ponytail, sprawled to one side on his shoulder. He has cheerful brown eyes that always seems to smile at everyone he likes. He often is seen wearing his dark green Chinese military uniform with a red communist armband, but is also seen wearing a traditional red Chinese dress with white pants or green with yellow pants. He also has a scar on his back, caused by Kiku, and a panda butt hat. >>

Relationships:

• Russia: The love of his life, who he is now engaged to. Though they have had a rocky history together and had been involved in a love-hate relationship, they have finally gotten past beyond all the bad things and have decided to live together, and to spend the rest of their lives together as a loving couple.
  
• Japan: Even though he feels contempt for this younger nation, not to mention betrayed, he still loves him as a younger brother despite their rocky history. They don't get along very well, though, and he can't really show how he really feels towards Kiku because he thinks the other hates him, but he still longs to be his older brother again someday.
  
• North Korea: The only Asian nation he raised that seems to respect him. He is, of course, very fond of the boy.
  
• South Korea: Another one of the Asian nations he raised, he's puzzled as to why he isn't more proper like his older twin. Either way, he hates the way he always gropes him, or tries to take credit for what he invented. He will never say it, but he still has a brotherly affection for the young nation. After all, he raised him.
  
• Hong Kong: Again, another one he had raised. Calling him his little brother, they lie under the same house. He openly shows affection to him, though the other seems to be unfazed by it.
  
• Taiwan: And yet another one he raised. She is independent from him now, though he still takes an opportunity to try to control her. Older brother tendencies.
  
• England: Because of the opium wars, he isn't very fond of this nation. His verbal tick will sometimes change to 'ahen', meaning 'opium', just to tick him off and remind him of the atrocity he had done.
  
• America: His major trading partner nowadays. Their relationship does not go beyond that, though, as China isn't very fond of America, either. It's merely a trading partnership.
