[6:27:07 PM] Caroline Jones: Six months had been far, far too long for her liking. She remembered with painful clarity waking the first morning, as though nothing was wrong - and then remembering exactly why he wasn't right beside her. However... she'd gotten through fine on her own. Her brother and Izzy had been help enough. She just had to remind herself that everything would be okay. Hearing his voice on the other end, that sweet Texan drawl she'd missed, was almost all she needed.
Standing in the airport now, she could barely contain her nerves, her anxiety, her excitement. Every so often, Caroline would find herself glancing impatiently at the terminal, biting her lip -- patience, patience. Jesus.
[6:37:07 PM] Worth Jones: Worth couldn't really say he'd been any different. Looking at her picture, his new tattoo....All of it to keep that sweet Southern lady on his mind. THe guys had teased him about her, but he didn't care. It was his Caroline. Making his way down the ramp, he looked around the terminal. Those baby blues were haunted, but as soon as he saw that head of blond hair, his heart soared, "Caroline..." He couldn't help it, it came out almost like a choked whisper, "God be damned.....That's my Caroline..." Some of the guys behind him chuckled, "Worthie's got his girl, guys. Let's go."
[7:00:26 PM] Caroline Jones: She could've said that it was like one of those old movies - that she'd spotted him halfway across the terminal and bolted to him. Could've said it. That would've just been overdramatizing what had happened, though; not something she would like to do. However... It /was/ from a good distance away. The tiniest smile broke over her features, and Caroline started toward them, resisting every urge to break into a run like she wanted to with all her heart.
Throwing it to hell, she felt herself break out into a run, not even caring the slightest as she tripped over herself (as she thought she would - it'd be okay), throwing her arms around him and refusing to let go.
[7:14:50 PM] Worth Jones: When she stood, his eyes met hers. It was perfect....that movie moment that Worth had been hoping for. His arms went around her waist, and he held her tight against him, tears squeezing themselves from his eyes as he felt her, that right form against his, fitting him like a puzzle piece...How could it be this perfect? Nuzzling her carefully, he whispered, "Oh Caro....I've missed ya so much..." It was obvious that he'd sustained some injury....since there were a few scars showing on his face, but....He was home, he was alive, and that was all he was worried about for now....because tonight,...he was asking her the question.
[8:02:47 PM] Caroline Jones: She'd been sobbing, quietly, pressed tightly against him where she belonged. Clinging as if she was (and author apologizes so much for this) a magnet that had found its attracting pole. "You have /no idea/..." She tried softly, gathering herself with a breath before continuing, "How much I missed you all this time." He was home, he was alive... and that was all that mattered. The mother-hening would have to wait a while. And oh, it would happen. "Y'better not do tha' 'gain, Worth." She attempted to sound firm here, but gave up on that for now. Oh, well.
[8:49:06 PM] Worth Jones: He smiled a bit, grinning that ironic smile of his as he gently looked down at her, "I swear I wont, Miss Caroline. I ain't gonna leave ya again....And there's a reason for that." Leaning in, he kissed her one more time, and....Ignoring the cat-calls of his buddies who he KNEW were waiting for this whole damn thing, he knelt slowly. Taking out a black velvet box, he held it up to her, opening it, "Because, babe....." He whispered, "I wanted to ask ya somethin' important."
"Caro, you're the light o' my life, an' I couldn't live without ya. Bein' over seas taught me so much....and I learned quickly that.....I needed ya. So..." He opened it, revealing a beautiful ring, blue diamons and pearls set in silver, "Will ya do me the honor of being my bride?"
[9:03:19 PM] Caroline Jones: Well... Some people were obviously voyeurs - if she counted the guys nearby. Which, at the moment, didn't matter to her. Whatever. She made a soft contented sound into the kiss, tilting her head briefly as he broke away; no more than a curious little quirk of her head.
Her heart fluttered at his next few movements, something she'd only ever recognized in movies. But, it seemed, it was happening to /her/, and-- God, she couldn't think straight. Wavering a little, Caroline did her best to stay upright, no matter how weak her knees became, goddammit. Taking a few breaths to keep from hyperventilating (excitement, nerves, what the heeeeellllll), the Carolinian nodded rapidly, doing her best to stay on her feet. "Ye - yes. Yes. I'd be /honored/ to."
[9:05:19 PM] Worth Jones: And that brought Worth to sweeping the girl up into his arms. Clinging her tightly against his body, he swung her around, the grin on his face, ignoring the cat-calls from his Platoon-mates as he slowly slid that ring onto her finger, "Now I c'n officially call you mah Fiancee, babe.....It makes me happy" Kisising her solidly, he held her close against his camo colored form, "Forever......I promise."
[9:19:09 PM] Caroline Jones: She squeaked happily as she was pulled close and swung around, clinging tightly to his form. Slinging an arm around his neck, the little Southerner pressed warmly into the kiss, almost purring out of pure joy. "F'rever." She echoed softly, resting her forehead on his.
