Turn my mic up louder I got to say something
Light weights step to the side when we come in
Were it not for the fact that he'd just told Caroline this morning that he was going off for the War, Worth might have been in a brilliant mood. He'd fallen asleep behind her. It was...The best thing that had ever happened to him. That...and he had no choice in this. His people needed him, and he had gotten up at 6 am, and grabbed the green duffel bag he'd put by the door, and with a single deep breath, his feet stepped off the front porch of his country home. That camo-colored bus was sitting there, waiting for him with a loud idling engine. Worth sighed and looked back, thinking of the little blond Southerner who was laying in his bed. The woman he was leaving behind. His Caroline, the sweet little girl who'd stolen a cowboy's heart. As his boots 'tak'ed up the metal steps, he looked around at all the military men who sat there, stern faces making him nervous. After all....he was only 19.
Feel it in your chest the syllables get pumping
People on the street they panic and start running
Nineteen and shipped to a fort. Conditioning, every muscle screaming at him to stop, every bone aching to the core. Each footstep burned until the condition set in, since he was only used to ranch work and horseback. Nothing like the rigorous training that the Army had decided to put his toned form through. Every night when he lay in the barracks, all he thought of was the blue eyed baby-doll who waited for him, of the girl he was planning to marry. She was the only thing on his mind, since he had that ring sitting in his trunk....waiting on him. Each night as he lay down on that hard bed, under covers too thin for his liking, he would pray to God that she'd be safe....that she'd have someone to help her get through this. God knew he wished he did. Looking at the metal above him, he was honestly wondering how much worse it would be when he transferred out for 6 months.
Words on loose leaf sheet complete coming
I jump in my mind and summon the rhyme, I'm dumping
Going out on the Plane was easy enough, since most people didn't bother him. He may have been a bit smaller than some of the other men, but he was still one of the tougher guys. Tracing something new on his wrist, he smiled, the tattoo that of a white rose, with soft yellow tips....His reminder. One of the guys by him looked at it, curiously, ”Hey, Worth. What'cha got there? Reminder of yer lady-friend.” The blond's eyes softened, ”More than tha' man. Tha' li'l lady's the light o' my life. 'M gonna marry her when we get through this.” The nod he got in return was barely noticed. The two began to chat about other things, religion....family. It was kind of fun.
