[Croatia]

Croatia - Jelena

• Jelena would be a great mother, but, even if she could have children, she couldn't trust herself around children, and she can't trust anyone to be the father, even if they aren't around.
  
• Jelena's trust issues go all the way back to her father, because she was watching when Rome took his last stand and died. She couldn't believe he left her family, and she put all her trust in her mother. When her mother died, she stopped trusting people.
  
• Brandenburg took Jelena's virginity when she was young, because she couldn't stand it being taken by anyone else. Her first time was in a shack in Austrian territory while they should have been killing eachother.
  
• Jelena loves her family. They just drive her crazy. And she's trying to be nicer to Vuk. It's just hard because she has to conceal any feelings she has.
  
• Jelena isn't emotionless. She has just been through so much that she thinks emotions are weakness.
  
• Jelena likes being loved and likes attention, but she doesn't like people getting close, so she pushes them away. She just doesn't want to be hurt again.
  
• If she had to honestly say who her best friends are, Jelena would probably choose Gilbert, Daeng, and Diego. They refuse to stop bothering her, no matter what she does, and while they drive her crazy and constantly try to get into her pants, she appreciates that they won't leave her alone.
  
• Jelena likes to have her hair played with because it makes her feel tingly. She's prone to making small mewling sounds and squirming if you do it just right.
  
• Her taste in men varies, but she likes tan skin or very pale skin, nothing in between, and thick hair that she can fingercomb. She'd also rather them be no more than a foot taller than her, because any taller than that is overkill. She also doesn't prefer bulky muscles, but he has to be stronger than her. If a man can overpower her, she physically reacts, but mentally has convinced herself that she doesn't like it.
  
• When online, she is often mistaken for a hot-headed teenage boy. She overuses capslock, sometimes. And makes the |: and D< faces too often.
  
• She's a huge Lady GaGa fan, and while she thinks the woman is weird, she sings her songs when she's alone, especially in the shower.
  
• Out of experience, she will punch you in the face if you mistake her accent for Russian.
  
• It took her years to almost get a grip on English. Jelena does not pick up languages easily, except for while singing.
  
• Jelena enjoys ballroom dancing in her spare time. Whether it be Waltz, Foxtrot, PasoDoble, Tango, even Swing and Jitterbug, she can probably do it. And in heels. She's not very keen on letting others know this, though.
  
• If it has wheels (Rollerskates, skateboard, etc.), Jelena will probably fall on her butt a lot.
  

Gaza Strip - Aani

• Aani can and sometimes will beat Aariz up to keep him from causing trouble. She's not a weakling, she just sees being stronger than a man as something that would prevent her from getting married, like a good Muslim girl.
  
• Aani doesn't actually want to get married at all, be it to a human or nation. She just wants to fit in and be normal.
  
• Aani is not totally unhappy with being kept inside. She's shy and doesn't like crowds of people. She just wishes she could go out when she wants.
  
• Aani hasn't forgotten all her time with Arthur. Most of it has been brainwashed out of her by her bosses, because they wanted her to forget her happy memories with other nations so she could be a weapon. They didn't succeed, though, and she still remembers a little. Not all of it, but a little.
  
• Aani and Aariz are actually Gupta's brother and sister, and children of Ancient Egypt. They were returned to being children when the Ottoman Empire took over. In all actuality, Aani was not raised by Arthur. She just let him believe that.
  
• Aani learned to bellydance in Sadik's harem. It was the only way the women could get her to talk to them. As a 'child', she liked being with the boys, better.
  
• Under Arthur's care, Aani was a tomboy and actually rather manipulative. She let him believe she was a child at heart and acted like it because she liked being treated as such. She liked pulling him along to places she wanted to go because she knew he'd usually follow.
  
• Aani likes to swim and surf, and is actually rather good at both.
  
• Aani had a crush on Arthur until she left his care. She never truly saw him as a father figure until she was no longer in his house.
  
• Aani likes men with lighter skin and dark eyes. She's not incredibly picky, though, because she figures her marriage will be arranged for her.
  
• She sometimes writes in Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics just to mess with people.
  
• She can recite most of the Quran by heart.
  

Portugal - Catarina

• While she's a shameless flirt, Catarina has always really been in love with Arthur and if she was actually in a relationship, she'd never cheat on him. Since she's not, she flirts and teases and sleeps around sometimes to ease her pain.
  
• Catarina cut her hair and became a tomboy to get King Sebastian's attention. He was terrified of female flesh, however, and would not have any of it. She was devestated when he disappeared, and still believes that he'll come back one day and make her an empire again.
  
• Portugal has a cross from her Inquisition branded on the back of her neck, because she wanted to cleanse herself of her 'heathen' (Moorish) blood. She tries to hide it now because it makes her look like a religious freak.
  
• Catarina always smells like Lavender, and has since she entered Al-Andalus' harem. She'd never admit that this is when she started liking them. She also won't admit that carnations and roses are her favorite flowers.
  
• Spain and Portugal, despite their differences, really love eachother. Portugal just wants to be her own person and not be mistaken for Spain. Spain wants Portugal to be one. They've accepted this in modern times, though, and want to get along. They even wanted to share the World Cup, a rivalry between them, to improve their 'sibling bond'.
  
• Catarina prefers to only drink her own wine, Port, which she makes herself. She also smokes when tense or nervous, and when really stressed, she'll pop up to five cigarettes in her mouth.
  
• Catarina still thinks like an empire sometimes. She usually would rather go to war than sit through politics, and sometimes she visits her former colonies just to cling to them and remind them (And herself) of their childhood to make herself feel more important. She's good at hiding it, but she really misses ruling a large part of the world.
  
• Catarina has a thing for older men, scruff, and eyebrows. Green eyes are her favorites.
  
• For the most part, she refers to everyone by their full first names or their country names. Only Turkey does this differ. She calls him 'Adnan Bey' because she refuses to acknowledge him as anything more than an acquaintance due to their shared history of teasing, flirting, and fighting. She doesn't actually echo these feelings, though.
  

Moldova - Iona

• Iona wasn't always this weak. She used to be rather toned, actually, and stronger than she appeared. She is now very frail due to her economic situation and malnourishment.
  
• Iona has coughed up blood more than once. Actually, it's a few times a week. She acts like it's nothing, though, and carries a hankerchief just for the occasion.
  
• Iona isn't actually related to anyone. She considers all the former Soviets and the Romanians family. Her closest 'brothers' are Transylvania, Wallachia, Russia, and Lithuania. Ukraine is her closest 'sister'. Romania is like her mother.
  
• While she prefers wine, if she's with Ivan and he's drinking vodka, she'll join him. And usually drink more than he does.
  
• Iona is terrified of military and police uniforms. She won't trust anyone wearing one, even if it's her closest friend.
  
• Iona is scared of vampires because of legends told to her as a child. Dracula and other vampire stories terrify her. Even Twilight sends her hiding. She loves her 'family', but if there's any hint of being vampires, she'll run from them.
  
• She's not sure why Frate Nicholas makes her blush and stutter, but it happens anyways.
  
• She can't read or write, but she can recognize the difference between alphabets.
  
• Iona does not understand sex, but she has experienced it. She was either drugged or nearly unconcious when it happened. She's been taken advantage of by both genders.
  
• Iona isn't afraid of Turkey, even when he's intimidating. He's the one person she's ever resisted for a very long time.
  
• When she was married, Iona tried her best to be more like a woman, even though she knew they both didn't want it. She just liked saying she was married because it made her feel grown up.
  
• If she ever got the chance, Iona wants to get married again, just for the wedding.
  

Genderbends

• Aariz feels like a monster most of the time. Yuri and Aani are the only reasons he holds himself back, or else he'd probably get himself destroyed.
  
• Aariz wants to push Syria and Aani together because Syria's his best friend. He's not very secretive about this. Aani sees him as an older brother figure and doesn't like this idea.
  
• Aariz hadn't ever seen a naked woman until he married Yuri. He thinks he was awful his first time and went to Arthur for advice. A couple magazines later, he's become obessed with showing her how good he's become. He's not actually a horndog.
  
• Besides wanting to prove his ability to make love, Aariz practically smothers Yuri with love because he never wants her to leave him. He's sure that if he slacks off even the tiniest bit, she'll find someone better and go away.
  
• Croatia likes to troll other people when he gets the chance, but it's so subtle, the person doesn't usually realize they've been trolled.
  
• Croatia is a lot more suave than his female counterpart. He could get along with a lot more people. He just chooses not to.
  
• When online, people think that Croatia is a girl. He makes sure to point out that he's male.
  
• Croatia curses a lot less than his female counterpart. Unless angry. Then he curses more.
  
• Aariz only smokes apple-flavored water pipes. He just can't stand any other flavor.
