Finally Free 24 August 1991
[/center] He was free! He was finally free! Though he didn't know how Lithuania's life was like with Russia, nor did he care to know (as the Russian always gave out a creepy aura; he was pretty sure he wasn't going to like what he'll hear if he asks), he's really quite happy that he has, once again, gained his independence. He admired him for that, always fighting for his right to be independent, even though there had been many powers that have invaded and exploited him. Never giving up, fighting until the end to protect his people… those are two very commendable traits that he's always admired in people and countries, Lithuania being no exception. And so, he was elated to hear, then, that his boss was planning to reconnect with Lithuania now that he's an independent country again, more than a year after he gained his independence March last year. He's wanted to see him and visit him since forever, but since issues came up in his own country as well, he didn't have a chance to. Besides, he didn't want to risk visiting him while he was still living with Russia. He had a bad feeling about that guy, and he wasn't about to get Lithuania into trouble if he had caught him visiting. Packing up a bag or two with stuff that he made himself (mostly food, since he figured he can't really make a visit to anyone without at least bringing them something), he threw them into the car and checked whether he had forgotten anything, and then drove off to the direction of Lithuania's house. He was eager to see where he lived now. It would probably be much better than the large, drab, cold house that the Russian lived in. He really was genuinely excited. He hadn't seen his old friend in a while, and he was happy at the fact that his boss was willing to establish reconnections. That meant more meetings with him, which meant more hang-out time! He had come to grow very fond of the Lithuanian, and while to others they may seem the type who could never be friends because of their contrasting personalities, he didn't really care. All he cared about was that they were indeed friends, and that they enjoyed each other's companies. Pulling up at the driveway of what he thought Lithuania's house is now, he glanced up at the structure. How so very Lithuanian, in ways he couldn't even describe. But… he liked it. It was so much better than that huge house. He felt more… at home, welcome, here. And he knew he was. His boss had been kind enough to go to the meetings himself, as he had expressed desire to visit Lithuania himself instead. He really wanted to see how he was doing, whether he was happy, and he wanted to interact with him outside business circumstances. It would be better to talk with him about more mundane things than to catch him after the business meeting and talk. After all, it would seem more friendly if he went to see him first. Bounding up the steps to knock on the door, he loudly banged his fist twice on the wooden frame, then realized there was a doorbell. Oops. He then rang that once, and then shouted, "Hey, Tor! It's me, Mathias! I'm finally here for a visit!"He really has missed hanging around the brave Lithuanian. He just hoped he was home.[/blockquote]

Unpacking things in his new house still, you wouldn't thing that he would have so many things but he does. After all he was Older than Russia and he had kept most of his things from that far back unable to part with them and the memories they held for him. Closing the door to the room with all the boxes he heads to the kitchen to make something for breakfast.
The kitchen was in disarray and it was entirely his fault. After all he was in here cooking yesterday and decided to go shopping when he noticed how low on food he was, without cleaning the mess from the what he was cooking before. Seeing the dried goop on the counter he decided to start there getting a rag he started to scrub only stopping once the entire kitchen was spotless.
Pausing as the phone rang and getting to answer it he was shocked to hear from his boss that Denmark wanted to re-establish, or now that he was free again would it just be establish, relations with him. A slight smile appeared on his face, at least he was starting to get more allies and there was less for him to worry about that way. Going back to the kitchen finally getting to the cooking that he had set out to do he pondered over this fact.
They had been friends before yes but they were never very close it was odd, but Toris was sort of glad that Denmark wanted to be friends again. After almost burning the food Toris decided to actually watch what he was doing pulling the completed meal out of the oven not having enough time to even take the apron off when he heard the Loud knocks on the door followed by the doorbell, setting the food on the counter as he heard the yells of who it was he scurried to answer the door.
Unlocking the 5 deadbolts on the door he opened it to see Mathias standing outside. "H-hello Mathias, Pl-please c-come inside. Wh-what br-rings you t-t-to visit m-me?"

When he heard the door being unlocked, a frown crossed his face. He counted the locks that Lithuania had put up: five. Did Russia really mistreat him that much? Was his time with Russia that bad, that despite gaining independence from him more than a year ago, he's still paranoid about his house being broken in and him suddenly being taken away?
He didn't let any of this show, though, as the door opened and he saw Liet once again. His old friend, one who he had known since a long time ago, but never did get the opportunity to interact with much due to the many things that came up. Besides, they were on opposite sides of Europe, so visits were hardly an easy thing to plan or fit into schedule. He beamed, offering him a big smile as he patted him on the back gently as a greeting.
"Yo, Tor!" He exclaimed quite loudly, a smile still bright on his face. "I really haven't seen you in a long, long while! How've you been faring since you got your independence? Good for you, by the way! And I'm here with my boss to re-establish connections between our countries! I'm really excited to be working with you again!" He said this all with sincere genuineness. When he noticed his apron, however, his smile grew even wider (if that was possible).
"Oooh, have you been cooking, too?" He asked excitedly. "I haven't had Lithuanian food in forever! That's awesome!" He clapped both his hands together like a child. His happy aura was impossible to resist, and he just hoped the Lithuanian was as happy to see him as he was towards him. He took the invite gratefully, stepping inside the house, taking his coat off, and hanging it on the coat rack. He then looked around. Boxes still, everywhere, even after more than a year? The transition must be really hard for him, then… He was worried about his friend, yes, but he tried not to show this. After all, he came here to cheer him up, not to bring his mood down.
"Hey, I see you still have boxes around! I'd be happy to help you unpack them, if you want. Your house will be clean in no time once we've put away the objects stocked in those boxes! What do you say?"
He really was ready to help his friend whenever possible. But knowing him… he might refuse the help. Oh well, one step at a time. He was sure Lithuania's going to open up to him in no time.

A small smile appeared on the Lithuanian's mouth as he heard this. The Dane was always good for making someone smile. "I-i am d-doing well M-mathias th-thank you for a-asking. M-my c-country i-is doing w-well, I-i enjoy the fr-freedom I-i d-did not h-have before."
Suddenly remembering his cooking that he had been doing thanks to the comment made by the Dane. "O-oh yes I-i w-was cooking, I-i m-made to much f-for just m-me if y-you would l-like to have s-some? I-i am s-still in the h-habit of h-having t-to cook for m-more than o-one p-person."
Quickly closing and locking the door behind Denmark as he entered, not before looking outside just in case Russia had decided that he wanted him back again, making sure to get all five of the locks shut tightly. Turning back around to see Denmark looking at all of the boxes he sighs.
"Y-you don't h-have to i-if you d-don't want t-to. M-most of the th-things will e-end up i-in st-storage a-anyways." Looking over the boxes he smiled slightly, having some help getting all of these things put away would be great help. "B-but first l-lets eat b-before the f-food gets cold."
Toris lead the way to the kitchen where the food was laid out on a table in the corner built for around four people to be able to comfortably sit around and eat, even with one of the long sides pushed against the wall.Staying standing so that Mathias could chose where to sit first, "G-go a-ahead and t-t-take a s-seat anywh-where."

He felt a frown crossing his features as he watched Lithuania lock the door. Just what the hell did that bastard Russian do to him, to scare him like this? And the stuttering, too? That just wasn't normal. Just how was he treated back there?
He wanted answers because he was worried, but he knew that those kinds of questions were sensitive. Besides, the wounds are still healing, he's sure, so it's better not to open them up again. He felt as though that topic would be something that he cannot mention or ever bring up, and it's just fine. He was concerned and curious, yes, but he'd rather not make Lithuania uncomfortable.
He quickly forced himself to smile again, though, as the Lithuanian turned towards him and then past him before going to the kitchen. Following him with a little skip, he said in a cheerful voice, "Hey, it's no bother! Consider it as thanks for offering me a meal. Besides, I think it would be fun!" Reaching the kitchen, he grinned and took a seat to the right. "Thanks, by the way! Sorry I wasn't able to call ahead of time before coming, I was supposed to be at the meeting too but my boss let me go ahead here."
He looked back at him with a sweet smile, then back at the food again. "Hey, sit down already and let's eat! Everything looks and smells good! This is amazing!"
For now, he was just going to try and cheer him up. The serious talk, he could save for later. After all, they hardly talked to each other before, even though they were friends. It was time to re-establish the connection and friendship.
