Mississippi in the middle of a dry spell Jimmy Rogers on the Victrola up high _______________ Caroline hummed to herself as she pulled her hair back, examining her own reflection almost scrutinizingly. So it wouldn't be all that formal, but still. This was a big thing for the girl, being just sixteen and all. She pinned her bangs out of her face and, deciding that was satisfactory, stepped back to admire herself once more. Just a date. Just a date. She let out a breath as though to reassure herself; it was Worth, after all, and she'd insisted on nothing fancy. Something that she could let loose doing, so she could be her rough-and-tumble cowgirl self. It wasn't in her style to be too terribly girly, and that was that. In any case, she knew she'd end up having fun. Worth was the sweetest boy she'd ever met, and they'd hit it off almost right away. That thought made her shoulders relax, brought an almost dorky smile to her face. It'd be okay. They'd be okay. It was just casual. Nothing more. Why wouldn't she let herself relax? Jeez. It'd all be worth it in the end. No more worrying, Caroline. Okay? Okay. She tucked a stray strand of golden hair behind one ear, deciding that she was done fussing with it (for now), and headed for the door. Stop being so fussy, she chided herself, trying to at least rein in her nerves. In the meantime, she could at least take a breath and focus. But weren't first dates always a little scary? Or awkward? Eh... She would deal. The young State shifted almost anxiously as she slipped out the door, stretching her arms out in the warm sunlight. It'd all be okay in the end, then. She hoped. _________________ Black velvet, and that little boy's smile Black velvet, and that slow Southern style A/N: Gah, short. xP I'm sorry.

She's ridin' in the middle of his pickup truck, Blarin Charlie Daniels Yellin, “Turn it up!”, They raised her up a lady __________________________________ Now Worth, raised the way he was, knew better than to keep a lady waiting. You didn't do that. Especially not to a Lady like Miss Caroline. To Worth, miss Caroline was the best thing that could have ever happened to him. She was sweet, pretty, and wanted HIM. Not Dall, not sexy, over-complicated Dallas. Him. Honestly, he'd been surprised they'd hit it off so well. He was in love with Miss Caroline, and for once in his life, Worht wasn't afraid to say it. He ADORED miss Caroline. He wanted to be with her for a damn long time, and he intended on fixing it so that it would stay that way. Sure, Worth had met plenty of girls at his competitions, and he'd been okay with them, but Miss CAroline was different. There was just SOMETHING about those big baby blues that he couldn't help but fall for, and that perfect blond hair, and her gorgeous smile, and almost everything else about Miss Caroline that just constituted as PERFECTION in and of itself. Miss Caroline IS perfection to young Worth. So, Nervous as hell about their date, he'd gotten himself into a nice button down, dark navy plaid, with a pair of acid-wash jeans. The trademark cowboy boots, and the obligatory tan hat were on of course, but thatw asn't important. What was important was that she liked it, and he was really praying that she did like it. Taking a slow breath, he moved towards the park where he was supposed t meet her. STudying his watch, he sighed happily. Good. He was here and with time to spare. There had to be time to spare. Not a minute would he waste of his beloved miss Caroline's time. Never. Fuckin'. Ever. __________________________________ But there’s one thing they couldn’t avoid, Ladies love country boys

Up in Memphis, the music's like a heatwave White lightning, bound to drive you wild ___________________ Okay. She could allow herself to get her nerves out now. She was almost there, but with enough room to let her heart stop its erratic, anxious rhythm against her ribcage. She thought, for a moment, it might burst out of her chest; she could feel it pounding against her throat, it seemed. Stop it, stop it, Caroline chided herself, letting out a shaky little breath. Slow your road. Calm down. That idea seemed to slow her breathing, make her at least physically a little less nervous. This was Worth, she knew. Not overcomplicated Dallas, oh, hell no. This was someone much better. Adjusting her sleeves again (when was this shirt ever so baggy on her? Or maybe she was just being analytical again...), the blonde flicked a hair from her eyes. All nervous habits. All signs of how anxious, and yet excited, she was for this. Hopefully, she wouldn't have made him wait too long... The State shook her head, dispelling this thought once more. Even though she felt a bit like that White Rabbit ( I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date!), she knew she'd left early enough to have time to spare. Reaching the park, Caroline unconsciously sped up her pace, practically breaking into a run as she drew closer. This was it. Here went nothing. The butterflies began their frantic dance again. Rapid. Fluttering. Blessedly, thankfully, there he was. She'd had time to spare after all, it seemed. " Worth...!" She managed to call out, that little trace of excitement entering her voice. That sweet, intelligent, adorable cowboy that she wouldn't trade for the world-- Wait, what? So she did like him quite a lot, and hoped they'd be together for a long time yet. Slowing down as she reached him, the girl felt a breathless smile tug at her lips. " Did y'wait long?" Oh, how she hoped not. __________________ Mama's baby's in the heart of every schoolgirl 'Love me tender' leaves 'em cryin' in the aisle

One word, that's all you said Something in your voice caused me to turn my head _________________________________ His heart practically all but stopped when he saw that head of blond hair bouncing towards him. The sound of that sweet Southern belle's voice calling his name made it swell in his chest to the point that the young cowboy thought he just might burst. Worth didn't know any other woman who could do the things to him that sweet miss Caroline did. That breathless smile, and the sweet look in those baby blues just had him caught in one helluva whirlwind, and the young cowboy just loved where it took him. "Caroline..." His voice was soft, with the lilt of that gorgeous Texas drawl curving at the ends. His full lips pulled up in a sweet little quirk of a smile and he resisted the urge to hurry off to his little belle and sweep her up in his farmer's tanned arms. "Nah. I ain't been waitin' long. I was just hopin' you'd show, miss Caroline." His heart was in his throat with every word, and his blue eyes were soft and loving, the pretty storm gray alight with every emotion that was swirling through his swiftly beating heart. He finally gave into the urge to hug her though, and hurried straight forwards, scooping the petite blond woman into his strong arms. God she felt so right there, like she'd belonged there this entire time. He was glad Dallas couldn't see him now. Dallie would have made so much fun of the poor cowboy, calling him soft and teasing him for his infatuation. Well, hey. Dallas had gotten a broken nose for hitting on his Caroline. Heh....that had a nice ring to it. HIS Caroline, "Ya ready fer our day out on th' town, miss Caroline? I know I've been lookin' forwards to it like mad." Grinning sheepishly, the cowboy flushed softly, and set her down. This was the best. Day. EVER. _________________________________ Your smile, just captured me You were in my future as far as I could see

How 'bout them cowgirls Boys, ain't they somethin'? ________________________ She made a tiny, surprised squeaking noise as she was, quite literally, swept off her feet. And yet, she couldn't help her smile. It felt right, being held so tightly. Like she belonged there, almost. Caroline curled her arms around Worth almost as tightly, peeking up at him with wide sky-blue eyes. He was such a sweetheart. There was no doubt of that. She gave him a tight squeeze before he finally let her go, still bright-eyed and breathless. " 'Course I'd show." It was spoken quietly, but she meant it, wholeheartedly. Leaning up on tiptoe, she gave him a quick peck; her own daring surprised her sometimes. Pulling away with that same bright, sunny smile, she paused, thoughtful. "What made y'think I wouldn't?" She left out, though, what she really wanted to say: You're too cute to pass up. I wouldn't miss this for the world. She had to stop being so shy and actually say it. Yeesh.Anyway. Now wasn't the time to think of that. Caroline swayed on the spot as though to get rid of nervous energy, idly lacing a hand with one of Worth's; that bright smile just refusing to fade away for anything. Hadn't Dallas gotten his nose broken for trying to touch her? Yes, that sounded about right. Well. That didn't matter right now. More important matters at hand. "Yeah. I was born ready.. Lookin' forwards to it for a while now." To put it quite mildly, she'd been jittery with excitement all week. _______________________ Sure are some proud girls And you can't tell 'em nothin'

If You'll be my Louisiana, I'll be your Mississippi _________________________________ The fact that he could look into those gorgeous baby blues, and see that smile damn near always took his breath away. Wrapping those strong arms around her, his eyes were soft and loving, "I knew ya'd show, Miss Caroline." He cooed. Taking her arm, he started walking, his heart racing happily. She was here, he was here, and their lives were perfect. They belonged together, and even Worth, who didn't believe in fate, could believe that this girl...he and this girl were meant to be together. Taking a slow breath, he tried to REMEMBER to breathe, since it seemed that his chest didn't want to. Hell, his heart wouldn't stop going so fast, and his head wouldn't stop swimming with how gorgeous she was either. Smiling at her, he looked over his shoulder at ALL the people around, but his eyes were only on one, "'re ya hungry, miss Caroline? I know a good barbeque place down th' way, an' there's a cute little ice cream parlor..." Was he rambling? Was he saying too much? He could never tell. He just didn't want to run her off. Caroline was the best thing that could have happened to the quiet little Southerner... _________________________________ You'll be my Little Loretta, I'll be your Conway Twitty. [/quote]
