Today, South Korea remains largely Buddhist, but there is a large population who are also Catholic/Christians. However, back in the 1800s- Japanese occupation, it was largely the Northern area of Korea (when they were united still) who were Catholic, as they even used the church in order to go against the Japanese. But, as we all know, North Korea is now atheist, or Kim Jong Il-nist. >>;
