President of Argentina Nestor Kirchner, 60, passed away last Wednesday from a fatal heart attack. Mixed reactions about the way he ran the country were given, but the whole country remains in mourning over his death. His wife Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner rose as the current acting president, with the people calling for her running for a second term when elections are held.

"The Kirchners were seen as Argentina's most influential "power couple" since Juan and Eva Peron."

Not necessarily news, but this was a very interesting article that came up on BBC today. High-ups in the Nazi regime during and after WWII went in hiding and continued to serve as intelligence under false names in South America; predominantly in Argentina, Chile, and Boliva. I don't know about the leaders of Chile and Boliva if they knew, but I do know that Juan Peron did accept them and he and his men kept it secret that they knew they were even there.
