So some budget cuts were announced this Monday. I won't bore you with the details (the story is here, in case you're interested), but the short version is that people that thought they were coming close to getting that pension they've been working towards have another thing coming, other welfare programs have been cut severely, and... well, due to the same cuts, there aren't going to be enough police to handle the riots and protests this is going to elicit.
Oh, then there's the military cuts. An entire fleet of fighter jets grounded, thousands of troops sent home, and even the navy is getting cut back.

HMS Astute was run aground today in Scotland. Rather embarassing, on the part of the Royal Navy. On the bright side, officials say that this was not a nuclear accident, there is no need to fear anything harmful in the environment, etc. Full story here.
